Born in northwestern China, Patrick has had a keen interest in visual arts since childhood. After giving up on photography as an ideal pursuit, he trained himself by using an iPhone 5 to capture scenes from his surroundings while majoring in English at university. After graduation, his career began as a fixer for various foreign press outlets, but he never stopped seeking his niche in the visual arts.
Fortunately, he transitioned into documentary filmmaking. His work has been featured on PBS, BBC, Great Big Story, South China Morning Post, Bloomberg Originals, Sky HISTORY UK TV Channel and so on. Through different projects, he constantly hones his skills, particularly in lighting.
Now he works with a director on a documentary film Underage #2, which addresses the issues of underage male prostitutes in Thailand.
In addition to his work in motion pictures, he was mentored by Gueorgui Pinkhassov, a world-renowned photographer from Magnum Photos.
After moving to Thailand in 2023, he is eager to expand his repertoire by integrating his aesthetics and vision into a broader range of work.
In the past, he was trained in the 17th Master Class of the Chinese Society of Cinematographers in 2021
